What is the Intermediate Grants Program?
Every year the Victorian Government, through the Recreational Fishing Licence Trust Account, disburses revenue derived from the sale of Recreational Fishing Licences to projects that will improve recreational fishing in Victoria.
The Recreational Fishing Grants Program consists of four separate programs which includes the Intermediate Grants Program. The Intermediate Grants Program is continually open to fund medium sized projects that improve recreational fishing.
IGP level of support
Grants
- Minimum funding of $5,001
- Maximum of $50,000
No projects will be funded on an ongoing basis, and only 90% of grant funding will initially be allocated for a project; the remaining 10% of project funding will be allocated on the timely and satisfactory completion of the project.
Co-contribution
- Preference will be given to proposals which provide co-funding or in-kind financial contributions towards the overall cost of the project.
IGP important dates
- Submission of applications is open year-round
- All funded projects must be completed within 12 months of signing a funding agreement.

IGP objective
The objective of the Intermediate Grants Program is to provide funding to medium sized projects that improve recreational fishing in Victoria. The program aims to support angling clubs and associations, and not-for-profit community groups. Examples of projects that could qualify for funding include infrastructure and access, installation of instream habitat, and riparian work, among others.
Organisations eligible for IGP support
Grants will be offered to incorporated angling clubs and associations, community groups and committees of management. Grants will not be available to individuals.

Projects and activities eligible for IGP support
The following projects and activities are eligible for support:
- Infrastructure and access projects (minor boat ramps or kayak launches/landings, access paths, jetties, platforms)
- Fish cleaning tables
- Installation of instream habitat (woody, boulders, lunkers)
- Riparian work (fencing, planting, stiles)
- Reef establishment (estuarine, lakes)
- Research (stock assessment of a local waterway, electrofishing).
Preference will be given to projects where project management activities are undertaken as a financial or in-kind contribution by the project proponent(s).

Applicants should read and understand the guidelines.
Successful applicants will demonstrate:
- a viable project plan with detailed activities and milestones that identifies and manages risk and the necessary resources/approvals to succeed
- a sound project budget that justifies funding and demonstrates the commitment of all partners
- the necessary capacity, capability and experience to deliver the project in full within the agreed timeframe
- an ability to be able to operate and maintain the facility and to make a commitment to a future high standard of operation and maintenance
- a project that addresses and adheres to the relevant Australian standards in terms of design and safety standards
