$500,000 Grant Helps Medical Products Manufacturer Diversify

Share

Client: Durablend
Project title: Diversify manufacture of hand sanitiser, hand wash, disinfectant, and specialty cleaning products in both consumer grade and TGA grade certification level
Category: Medical Manufacturing

The client

Durablend is a New South Wales-based company specialising in manufacturing food and non-hazardous liquids and powders. The company offers over 20 years of experience in powder handling, liquid blending and packaging, and also offers a unique formulation service.

The challenge

In mid 2020, the NSW government introduced a $5 million grants scheme to locally manufacture personal protective equipment (PPE). Durablend registered its ability to supply PPE-related outputs and was invited to lodge a detailed application, the aims of which were to stimulate manufacturing in NSW and bolster sovereign capability in PPE.

The key would be to ensure the submission emphasised the importance of increasing local manufacturing of PPE which would enable the business to fund new equipment and recruit more skilled staff, providing economic benefits to the region.

As scientists, experts in their field and business owners, Durablend management recognised that their own strengths did not align to the coordination of a strong application and sought expertise and guidance from GrantHelper.

Our solutions

GrantHelper worked closely with Durablend leadership to quickly extract relevant detailed information and craft a multi-faceted narrative that spoke to increases in PPE sovereign capability and broader societal benefits. The application was then carefully honed to ensure it precisely aligned to the grant program objectives.

Over several weeks GrantHelper facilitated a comprehensive submission which included compiling 14 supporting documents to add significant weight to our detailed assessment criteria responses.

Outcomes

We were thrilled to achieve a winning outcome with this multi-layered submission, the core of which was a supportable business plan and financial management and manufacturing credentials, bolstered by letters of support.

This submission demonstrated an array of competencies and evidence and was tied together by a clearly focused strategy to make a strong case for investment. This ultimately provided the surety that the assessors were looking for.

What made this grant project a success?

The business owners showed great vision and flexibility, and were open to adjusting the initial project scope to be more closely aligned to the program objectives. We complemented this with our specialist expertise in grants and were able to submit this application with high confidence.
