What is the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program?

The Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program supports Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprises to become more competitive and resilient and be able to scale-up to better compete in national and global markets.

The program encourages eligible businesses to:

  • invest in innovative new equipment,
  • leading to increased employment,
  • increased off island trade, and
  • greater economic benefits for regional Tasmania.

AMAGP level of support

Grant

  • $10,000 to $100,000 per project
  • Funding of up to 50% of eligible project expenditure

Co-contribution

  • Cash co-contribution of a minimum of 50% of eligible project expenditure

AMAGP important details that you will need to know

The objective of the AMAGP program is to support Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprises confidently invest in new and innovative manufacturing technologies that will assist them to enhance their competitiveness in new national and global markets, create more jobs, increase off-island trade and generate greater economic benefits for regional Tasmania.

To be eligible for financial assistance from the program the applicant:

  • must be able to demonstrate that they are a Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprise
  • must have an Australian Business Number and be registered for GST
  • must have annual sales turnover greater than $300,000 and less than $50 million
  • must not be a consultant or intermediary
  • must not be subject to any legal disability, including bankruptcy or liquidation.
  • cannot receive in excess of $100,000 per financial year under this program.

 

In addition:

  • if funding was received in 2021-22 any subsequent application must be a different manufacturing growth project
  • if funding is approved, the applicant must be able to finalise the project within 12 months
  • if funding is approved, the applicant must be able to demonstrate how the balance of the project will be funded

Eligible expenditure includes:

  • plant and equipment to be used in the manufacturing process
  • commissioning costs

 

Ineligible expenditure includes:

  • reimbursement of retrospective project expenditure
  • certifications
  • salaries and wages
  • general operational business expenses including office expenses, maintenance costs, accounting, legal, compliance, government fees and software licensing (installation or upgrades)
  • costs associated with patents and intellectual property
  • building construction, modification or repairs
  • product prototype research and development

How do I get the AMAGP?

Applicants should read and understand the program guidelines.

A successful application:

  • meets all aspects of the eligibility criteria
  • shows that the project to be undertaken with the grant funding aligns to the purpose of the grant program
  • has clear well-structured answers to all the assessment criteria questions, and
  • contains, where requested, quality documented evidence to support claims against the eligibility and/or assessment criteria.
