What is the Solar Sunshot (SS)?

The Solar Sunshot Program, initiated by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), aims to accelerate the development of Australia’s solar manufacturing industry. The program will facilitate the advancement of the solar PV (photovoltaic) manufacturing supply chain, including the production of polysilicon, ingots, wafers, cells, and modules.

SS level of support

The program is supported by a significant commitment of up to $1 billion in funding designed to catalyse the growth of domestic solar PV manufacturing. Financial support will predominantly be in the form of production-linked payments, with considerations for capital grants based on consultation feedback.
