The 100&Change Grant, offered by the MacArthur Foundation, is a global competition that awards a single $100 million grant to a proposal that promises significant and durable progress in solving a critical social challenge.

The competition is open to organisations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world.

Projects eligible for 100&Change Grant support

Eligible projects can come from any field or sector. The competition is open to all types of social challenges without any specific problem area designated. This broad eligibility encourages innovative solutions from diverse fields.

Any organisation or legal entity, except government agencies, can apply for the 100&Change Grant. This includes non-profits, for-profits, and hybrid organisations.

The assessment criteria for the 100&Change Grant include:

  • Impactful: The proposal should address an urgent problem and promise transformative impact.
  • Evidence-Based: The solution or its critical components should have previously yielded practical and concrete results.
  • Feasible: The project should be practical and achievable with the proposed resources.
  • Durable: The solution should offer long-term benefits.
  • Just: The proposal should advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Applicants must:

  • Read and understand the guidelines.
  • Ensure eligibility for the funding. Applicants that do not meet all the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
  • Deliver the project as outlined in the application.
  • Provide complete information requirements.

  • Detailed description of the problem and your proposed solution
  • Evidence supporting the feasibility and impact of your solution
  • Information on how your project will advance diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Budget and implementation plan

Applications must be submitted online through the 100&Change application portal. Ensure all required information is included and meets the criteria outlined by the MacArthur Foundation. After submission, applications will be reviewed and scored by peer reviewers and the Wise Head Panel.
