What is the Impact Extension Program?
The iMOVE Impact Extension Program 2 (IEP2) is a funding initiative designed to accelerate the development of innovative ideas, products, and services that will positively impact Australiaโs transport and mobility sector. Managed by iMOVE, a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), this program builds on the success of the original Impact Extension Program and is targeted at projects that advance commercial readiness and/or community deployment of transport solutions. The program aims to support impactful R&D collaborations that deliver measurable benefits to the sector and the nation.
Impact Extension Program level of support
The iMOVE IEP2 offers a total of $2,000,000 in funding.
- Minimum amount of funding: $100,000
- Maximum amount of funding: $500,000
- Co-contribution requirement: All applicants must contribute in-kind resources to the project; however, no specific cash co-contribution is mandated in the guidelines

Projects and expenditure eligible for Impact Extension Program support
Eligible Projects
Applications must propose a research and development project that:
- Is aligned to iMOVEโs mission of improving transport systems through technology.
- Is capable of being completed by 30 September 2026.
- Has a credible plan for sector impact and adoption of project outcomes.
- Includes a project budget using the required template.
- May involve single or multi-party collaboration.
- Must be led by an organisation with an ABN and an Australian presence.
Ineligible Expenditure
The guidelines document does not list specific ineligible expenditures. Applicants are encouraged to ensure their proposed budgets are realistic, justified, and proportionate to the expected outcomes

Impact Extension Program assessment criteria
Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Capability and capacity of the applicant and partners to deliver the project successfully.
- Resources committed by all partners to the project.
- Project plan quality, including:
- Clear and credible objectives.
- Appropriate governance structure.
- Risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Expected impact and potential benefits to the Australian transport and mobility sector.
- Implementation plan feasibility to translate project outputs into real-world impact.
- Value for money, assessing the expected outputs relative to the grant amount requested

How do I get the Impact Extension Program?
Applicants must:
- Read and understand the guidelines.
- Ensure eligibility for the funding. Applicants that do not meet all the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
