What is the Infrastructure for Multicultural Organisations Grant?

The Infrastructure for Multicultural Organisations Grant (IMOG) is a major funding opportunity designed to support projects that benefit multicultural communities in Australia.

The grant offers up to $20 million over three years, starting from 2025-26, with applications opening in October 2024.

The grant will provide significant financial support, with up to $20 million available over three years.

Securing co-contribution from another source, such as state government funding, or contributing your own funds is required.

The grant aims to fund projects that deliver substantial benefits to multicultural communities through infrastructure development.

The objectives include:

  • Supporting the construction of community hubs and centres
  • Enhancing museums, libraries, and art spaces
  • Developing indoor and outdoor amenities, such as food preparation areas, dining spaces, bathrooms, play equipment, and barbecue facilities
  • Providing meeting and conference facilities
  • Creating stages, auditoriums, and spaces for performing arts
  • Expanding spaces for sporting and physical activities

Projects eligible for IMOG support

Projects that involve the construction, upgrade, or extension of infrastructure that benefits multicultural communities are eligible for this grant.

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Community hubs and centres
  • Museums, libraries, and art spaces
  • Indoor and outdoor amenities, such as food preparation areas, dining spaces, bathrooms, play equipment, and barbecue facilities
  • Meeting and conference facilities
  • Stages, auditoriums, and spaces for performing arts
  • Spaces for sporting and physical activities

Other IMOG important details that you will need to know

Eligible organisations include those that are ready to undertake infrastructure projects that align with the grant’s objectives and meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Obtaining regulatory and/or development approvals
  • Providing evidence of experience in similar-sized projects or engaging a third-party expert
  • Securing co-contribution from another source, such as state government funding, or contributing your own funds
  • Preparing a detailed project proposal, including designs, timelines, and procurement processes
  • Developing a comprehensive budget, including quotes and cost-benefit analysis
  • Completing a detailed risk management plan
  • Proving land ownership or having the landowner’s permission to use the land/infrastructure

Applications will be assessed based on the project’s readiness, alignment with the grant’s objectives, and the organisationโ€™s capacity to deliver the project within the stipulated timeframes.

  • Deliver the project as outlined in the application.
