What is the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding?
The ‘Support for NDIS Providers’ Grants Program seeks to support the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Commission’s mission to ensure people with disabilities receive quality and safe supports and services. The Grants Program is built on three complementary Pillars:
- Knowledge and Skill Development
- Quality and Safeguarding
- Regulation and Compliance
This grant focuses on Pillar 2: Quality and Safeguarding, aiming to improve the standards and safety of services provided to individuals with disabilities through education, influence, and consultation.
NDIS Quality and Safeguarding level of support
- Total Amount Available: $3,000,000
- Minimum Grant Amount: $300,000
- Maximum Grant Amount: $800,000
Co-contribution is not a requirement but may enhance the proposal’s competitiveness.
NDIS Quality and Safeguarding important dates
- Closing date and time: 18 October 2024, 2:00 pm (ACT Local Time)
- Projects will be funded for a duration of 12 months to 3 years.

NDIS Quality and Safeguarding objectives and outcomes
Objectives:
- people with disability receive quality and safe NDIS supports and services, delivered by providers and workers who achieve and continually improve on quality and safeguarding outcomes.
Outcomes:
- people with disability receiving person-centred, quality and safe NDIS supports and services delivered by skilled providers and workers
- providers and workers achieving and continually improving quality NDIS supports and services
- providers and workers achieving and continually strengthening natural and formal safeguards in the delivery of NDIS supports and services.
Activities and expenditure eligible for NDIS Quality and Safeguarding support
Priority will be given to activities and projects targeting vulnerable or underrepresented groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and people living in rural or remote areas.
Eligible activities:
1. Encouraging the delivery of quality and safety standards in supports and services
- This can include reducing and eliminating the need for the use of regulated restrictive practices by creating strategies that are responsive to the individual
2. Promoting the importance of building natural safeguards into the delivery of supports and services
- This can include supporting people with disability to enjoy quality and safe supports and services whilst participating in the community and employment, or in the home.
3. Fostering innovation in the delivery of supports and services with person-centered approaches addressing the needs of people with disability.
- This can include innovation to co-design, trial and test new ways to deliver safe and quality supports based on a foundation of research, participant feedback and co-design.
Ineligible expenditures:
- Activities outside the scope of NDIS support improvement.

Organisations eligible for NDIS Quality and Safeguarding support
To be eligible for this grant, applicants must:
- Hold an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Have an account with an Australian financial institution.
- Be one of the following entities:

- A company or association incorporated in Australia.
- An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006.
Applicants do not need to be registered NDIS providers to apply.

NDIS Quality and Safeguarding assessment criteria
The following assessment criteria will be applied to evaluate applications:
- Alignment with Program Objectives – How well does the proposal contribute to improving the quality and safety of NDIS services?
- Value for Money – Does the proposal present a cost-effective approach to achieving the intended outcomes?
- Capacity and Capability – The applicant’s ability to deliver the project, based on experience and resources.

How do I get the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding?
Applicants must:
- Read and understand the guidelines.
- Ensure eligibility for the funding. Applicants that do not meet all the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
- Demonstrate a strong alignment with the fund’s objectives
- Provide complete information requirements.
Information to prepare for the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding application
When applying, applicants must submit:
- A completed GO6985 Quality and Safeguarding application form.
- A detailed budget template.
- A supporting letter from the board or CEO.
- Any other documents outlined in the guidelines.
