The Llama 3.1 Impact Grants provide funding to organisations globally with ideas on using the latest features of Llama 3.1 for positive social and economic impact. This grant initiative, launched to harness open-source AI, is designed to support projects addressing critical community challenges, especially in sectors like economic development, science, innovation, and public service.

Llama 3.1 Impact Grants level of support

  • Minimum and Maximum Amount of Funding: Grants range from small support amounts up to a maximum of $500,000 USD or approximately $780,000 AUD for selected projects.
  • Co-contribution Requirements: No co-contribution is required for this grant.

Ineligible Expenditures: Funding is not available for projects that solely focus on commercial product development without a clear social impact or those that do not utilise Llama 3.1’s features for community benefit.

This grant is open to eligible organisations worldwide, including:

  • Non-profits
  • Educational institutions
  • Research organisations
  • Government entities and similar public service-oriented bodies

 

Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  1. Social Impact Potential: Project’s ability to address critical community issues effectively.
  2. Feasibility and Sustainability: Likelihood of project success and long-term impact.
  3. Innovation and Use of Llama 3.1: Novelty in applying Llama 3.1 features and alignment with open-source principles.
