What is the Insignia Community Foundation Community Grants Program?

The Insignia Community Foundation Community Grants Program offers funding to support impactful programs that address specific needs within communities across Australia. These grants aim to create meaningful change, focusing on individuals and groups experiencing inequality or disadvantage.

Insignia Community Foundation Community Grants Program level of support

  • Minimum funding: $10,000
  • Maximum funding: $300,000

Most awards fall between $10,000 and $150,000 annually.

Funding is generally for a one-year period, although multi-year funding for up to two years may be available.

Co-contribution: The program guidelines do not specify a mandatory co-contribution.

The program seeks to support initiatives that leave participants in a better position than before through five key impact areas:

  • Financial Wellbeing: Building skills, confidence, and financial literacy.
  • Basic Needs: Providing vital goods to enhance daily life.
  • Reconciliation: Supporting First Nations employment, business ownership, and education.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Enabling social participation and fostering community wellbeing.
  • Mental Health: Improving access to quality mental health resources.

Projects, activities, and expenditure eligible for Insignia Community Foundation Community Grants Program support

The Foundation supports the community across five impact areas:

  • Financial Wellbeing: Improving skills, confidence and know-how of people so they can achieve greater financial wellbeing now and into the future. Programs being supported may include those that help people understand their finances better, training that leads to employment or initiatives that keep students in school.
  • Basic Needs: The Foundation supports initiatives that provide vital and basic items to people so they can go about their daily life, such as items to make people feel more included, healthier, happier, or enable people to be more financially secure.
  • Reconciliation: Aligning with Insignia Financial’s Reconciliation Action Plan, they aim to further the endeavours of First Nations people through employment, business ownership, education and financial training.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: The Foundation supports inclusion, diversity and wellbeing in the community through programs that enable social participation for all.
  • Mental Health: The Foundation aims to address mental health challenges for people of all ages with access to quality care, support and resources.

The guidelines did not specify any ineligible expenditures.

Other Insignia Community Foundation Community Grants Program important details that you will need to know

This program is available to nationally operating organisations, including:

  • Non-Government Organisations (NGOs)
  • Health and education providers
  • Community groups

 

Applicants must hold Australian Taxation Office Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR1 / Item 1) endorsement to qualify.

Assessment criteria will be based on the following:

  • Programs may be preventive and are being delivered as an early intervention initiative or programs may be addressing or relieving an existing need for its participants.
  • Clear details on why the program exists, the problem or gap the program is addressing and how the program will be delivered.
  • Program outcomes explained, including realistic, measurable and achievable goals that consider how people were connected, improved and impacted through the program.
  • Evidence of good corporate governance.
  • Sustainability of the program beyond our support.
  • Considered use of technology to achieve scale, realise greater efficiencies, see environmental benefits and/or improve the experiences of people during program delivery or post-program.

 

Applicants must:

  • Read and understand the guidelines.
  • Ensure eligibility for the funding. Applicants that do not meet all the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
  • Demonstrate a strong alignment with the fund’s objectives.
  • Provide complete information requirements.

 

Applicants must prepare the following:

  • Proof of Australian Taxation Office DGR1 endorsement.
  • A comprehensive project plan outlining goals, activities, and timelines.
  • Evidence of your organisation’s capacity to deliver the project.
