What is the Go-Green Co-Innovation Program (GGCIP)?
The Australia-Singapore Go-Green Co-Innovation Program (GGCIP) is a collaborative initiative under the Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement (GEA). Established to foster joint projects between Australian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Singapore businesses, the GGCIP aims to drive the decarbonisation of economic activities and help both countries transition to net zero emissions.
GGCIP level of support
The Australian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) have jointly allocated $20 million to support relevant projects. For Round 2, the Australian Government has earmarked up to $7.5 million for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26.
- Minimum amount: $150,000
- Maximum amount: $500,000 per project.
- Applicants must demonstrate at least 50% co-contribution of total project costs through cash or in-kind resources.

GGCIP objectives and outcomes
- Promote collaboration on commercially viable green products, services, and solutions.
- Foster or promote trade and commerce between Singapore and Australia in priority green sectors.
- Encourage the participation of First Nations-owned SMEs and women-led/owned SMEs.
Projects eligible for GGCIP support
Eligible projects must involve collaboration with a Singapore business partner and fall within the priority green sectors, including:
- Renewable and clean energy
- Sustainable agribusiness and food
- Built environment and infrastructure
- Advanced manufacturing and sustainable materials
- Waste management and the circular economy
- Green transportation and logistics
- Energy-efficient technology and products
- Environmental monitoring and assessment

Expenditure eligible for GGCIP support
The grant cannot be used for the following:
- Funding the project activity to be carried out by your Singapore partner.
- Office, warehouse, or production facility rental.
- Capital expenditure for the purchase of land, real estate, and/or vehicles.
- Costs incurred in the preparation of the grant application or related documentation.
- Bonuses, commissions, allowances, and overtime.
- Retrospective costs.
- Business as usual activities such as ongoing administration costs like electricity and phone services.
- Maintenance costs.
- Other costs as determined by the program delegate that do not meet the program objectives.

Organisations eligible for GGCIP support
Eligible applicants must be SMEs defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, with the necessary insurance and financial capability to complete the project. Joint applications with other businesses or research partners are allowed, provided the lead applicant is the main driver.
Locations eligible for GGCIP support
Projects must be conducted in Singapore or involve trade and commerce between Singapore and Australia.
GGCIP assessment criteria
- Project Alignment with GGCIP Objectives (40 points): Demonstrate collaboration with a Singapore enterprise on green solutions and potential for increased commercial activities.
- Capacity to Manage and Deliver the Project (40 points): Showcase the lead applicant’s track record, project management plan, and resource allocation.
- Broader Impact and Benefits (20 points): Highlight economic outcomes, job creation, productivity increases, and support for decarbonisation efforts.
How do I get the GGCIP?
You should read and understand the guidelines.
You need to ensure you are eligible for the funding. Applicants that do not meet all the eligibility criteria outlined above will not be considered.
You must:
- collaborate and network to build capacity and deliver green sector products and services with market potential in partnership with a Singaporean enterprise
- demonstrate a clear commercialisation plan, specifying target market and demand, and project timeline, that outlines route to market
- have willingness to use robust project management and partnership processes
- actively engage in cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary partnerships and knowledge sharing
- complete the application form in consultation with your Singapore business partner and submit it in the SmartyGrants portal
- provide all the information requested
- include all necessary attachments
Information to prepare for the GGCIP application
Prepare the following:
- Project Plan: Outline project scope, governance, risks, milestones, outcomes, and budget.
- Financial Documentation: Provide an accountant’s declaration, profit and loss statement, and insurance certificates.
- Support Letters: Include letters of support from your board, CEO, or equivalent, demonstrating commitment and capability.
